HALIFAX – The town of Halifax has experienced a remarkable journey through its municipal leadership over the past few years, moving from a period of abrupt resignations and a "one-man band" Select Board to a more stable, forward-thinking administration.
Unfortunately, this could not be more askew. The two resigning from the selectboard in 2022 were having an affair. that is on them... Moving forward. The Non Rerunning selectman in 2025 was a horrible selectman who did not listen to The Great Room Overflowing telling them to follow the by law regarding sand mining in an aquifer. He allowed vs the towns people and issued a permit that removed sand from the aquifer that damaged our water quality. On Going. Our wells are still not better as the tax payers are upwards of millions of dollars to repair what has not been attended to. The well that should have been online according to the commissioner at town meeting 2025 is still not up. The three selectman that "stabilized" the town, did quite the opposite. Pushing a special town meeting in December 2023 to allow a senior overlay district, appointing a dep violator to the conservation board that did not flag for wetlands where a 3.5 story building is erected. The buildings being built by a multi million dollar corporation were given 50% off the building permits which would have covered the $500,000 that was pulled out of Halifax Free Cash 2025 instead of an impending override. The resigning former town admin that resigned and took the month of July as vacation after not fulfilling his role. He was given a 40% +++ raise and huge huge benefits in an executive session march 2024 to stay.. He was on record being interviewed to take another position in I believe Maynard, this is what prompted them to save him from leaving then. Now he goes back to Dartmouth... that cost our town LOTS. then... NEXT, to the special town meeting in December 2024 to down MBTA, more $$$ (nice try on the December meeting that surprised the town in 2023 for the "senior overlay district"). The former chair of BOS took a nine member board and brought it to five. Zero Planning Board members, and two illegal finance committee members were placed on the zoning by law review committee. The Zoning By Law Review spent over 1.5 years of attorney fees to try and dismantle the Zoning by laws. that cost us a ton. Which by the way the zoning by laws were downed completely before and during town meeting in may 2025. The former bos chair also made a government study committee again with his minions and again two from the finance committee which again is not legal. They are in a course to make positions appointed instead of voted which will take away more voice of the Halifax Residents. If you call that stabilizing...
