Victim Identified in Suspicious Death Investigation in Scituate
Body found in a vehicle at South Shore Hospital over the weekend
BROCKTON, MA — Authorities have identified the man found deceased in a car left at South Shore Hospital this past weekend as Declan Perry, 27, of Portland, Maine. The Massachusetts State Police and Scituate Police are actively investigating the death as suspicious, according to a statement from Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.
The Full Story
The investigation began on Saturday afternoon when Weymouth Police were contacted by South Shore Hospital at approximately 2:07 p.m. regarding a deceased individual in a vehicle. According to the District Attorney's office, a hospital unit coordinator was directed to a black Honda Civic with a Maine license plate parked in front of the emergency room entrance.
Inside the vehicle, the coordinator found an unresponsive male, later identified as Perry, wrapped in multiple blankets and secured with duct tape. He was pronounced deceased at 2:15 p.m.
The investigation led police to a condominium complex along the Driftway in Scituate. Neighbors there had contacted Scituate Police after seeing news coverage of the incident, reporting they had seen a man loading a large, heavy blanket into the black Honda Civic at their neighbor's residence earlier on Saturday.
As a result of the ongoing investigation by the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County DA's office and Scituate Police, a search warrant was obtained and executed for the residence. Investigators seized several items of evidence. Authorities have identified a person of interest who they state was known to the victim.
