Thank God for Barbara Anderson who led the 2 1/2 Prop effort. It is not a suffocating restraint. It is salvation for taxpayers. It is not meant for low inflation. It is meant especially for high inflation. The towns have a choice - cut the budgets. That is what 2 1/2 is all about. We knew it when it was passed. We are not taken off-guard. It is town leadership and Beacon Hill that are. We will help them wipe their tears by handing them tissues. But we will not attack 2 1/2. Imagine a MA without 2 1/2. We would be NJ. It is the only thing standing between us and the financial slaughterhouse. 2 1/2 is especially meant for a one party state that can casually strangle us at will in its attack on the suburbs. The outflow of residents will absolutely blow up if it is ever marginalized as our local unfriendly teachers unions want to do.

Here's the lasting solution: passing An Act Establishing Medicare for All in MA (S.860, H.1405). It would replace the fraudulent, profit driven insurance companies with a publicly funded, publicly accountable "single payer" covering all MA residents for all medical needs (incl. dental, hearing, vision, short and long term care...ALL means ALL) and would SAVE MONEY. Municipalities would save millions, the state would save billions, and 98% of MA residents would pay less and get better coverage. Overall, first year savings to the system is estimated at $38 billion.

Cities, towns, employers, small businesses, unions, individuals, families -- ALL would benefit.

Except the rapacious insurance profiteers.
