Norwell School District Advances Key Policies and Prepares for Major Facility Feasibility Study
NORWELL — July 20, 2026 — The Norwell School Committee met in regular session on Monday evening to approve annual administrative updates, advance student policy updates, and review significant progress on district-wide strategic goals and facility planning.
The Full Story
During a streamlined summer agenda, the committee formally adopted second readings for key school policies and the district athletic handbook, approved staff dependent enrollments, and reviewed the first reading of the updated School Committee Resource Guide. Committee members praised the resource document for helping navigate municipal oversight and aligning with state-level school committee guidance.
Superintendent Matt Keegan presented an extensive overview of the leadership team’s recent retreat and his annual evaluation artifact review. Key operational focus areas for the upcoming academic year include multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) behavioral frameworks, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) professional development, high school accreditation alignment, and financial planning.
In district facilities updates, administrative leaders outlined the next phase of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) partnership. Following entry into the feasibility study phase earlier this year, the district received responses to its Request for Services (RFS) for an Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) on July 15. The OPM Selection Committee is actively interviewing and ranking applicants, with a recommendation expected to be presented to the full School Building Committee later in the week ahead of final state approval in September.
