New Leadership for Marshfield Select Board as Simpson Wins Seat
Voters reject South Shore Tech debt exclusion question three months after supporting the project.
MARSHFIELD - May 3 - Trish Simpson has secured a spot on the Marshfield Select Board, beating incumbent Chair Lynne Fidler by 340 votes in the Marshfield Town Election. Simpson garnered 2,139 votes compared to Fidler's 1,799.
The Marshfield School Committee race saw incumbents Richard Greer Jr. and Lara Brait keep their seats against challenger Scott Swain. Greer came out on top with 2,505 votes, Brait followed with 2,218, and Swain received 1,749.
Seven other positions in the May 3, 2025, election went unchallenged. Nicholas Giaquinto, Paul Armstrong, Robert Shaughnessy, and Michael Biviano Jr. were all re-elected to their respective roles as assessor, board of health member, board of public works member, and planning board member.
Janine Vaughan and Heather White retained their positions as non-veteran trustees of veterans memorials, while Joshua Summers kept his seat as the veteran trustee.
The ballot also included a debt exclusion question for Marshfield’s share of the South Shore Regional Vocational Technical School District High School which was approved by a 3 to 1 margin in January.
Voters narrowly rejected excluding the debt, 1804-1768, leaving the town to handle approximately $1.8 million within its operating budget beginning in FY29.
