Mixed Results in South Shore Races
Democrats hold Senate seat, flip 1st Plymouth House seat, lose 6th Plymouth House seat. 8th Plymouth too close to call
November 6 - Democratic Rep Dylan Fernandes has secured victory in the Plymouth and Barnstable Senate race, defeating his Republican house colleague Mathew Muratore for the seat being vacated by Democrat Sue Moran.
In State Representative contests across Plymouth County, Democrats claimed several victories, with Michelle Badger winning in the 1st Plymouth district current held by Muratore, and Kathy LaNatra retaining her seat in the 12th Plymouth.
Republican Ken Sweezey emerged victorious in the 6th Plymouth district, a seat formerly held by Undersecretary of Apprenticeship, Work-Based Learning, and Policy Josh Cutler, a Democrat.
The 8th Plymouth district remains too close to call, with Democrat Dennis Gallagher holding a razor-thin lead of less than 1% over Republican Sandra Wright with all precincts reporting. That seat is currently held by Republican Angelo D’Emilia.
In the 9th Plymouth, Democrat Bridget Plouffe won in a three-way race against Republican Lawrence Novak and Independent candidate Jonathan Gill. Plouffe is the chief of staff to the current Representative, Democrat Gerry Cassidy.
The Second District Governor's Council seat went to Democrat Tamisha Civil, who defeated Republican Francis Crimmins. That seat is vacant, formerly held by Framingham District Court Clerk-Magistrate Robert Jubinville.
In the Plymouth County Commission race, where voters selected two candidates, Republican Jared Valanzola and Democrat Greg Hanley appear to have been reelected, however there isn’t an official call yet.
