MARSHFIELD — July 20, 2026 — Following a brief executive session to discuss real estate negotiations, the Marshfield Select Board reconvened in open session to address administrative business, accepting several generous community donations and clarifying the status of a key town committee appointment.

The Marshfield Select Board met for a brief evening session on July 20, 2026, opening with praise for local public safety personnel. Board members commended the Marshfield Police Department, Marshfield Fire Department, and regional partner agencies for their coordinated management of the annual Levitate Music & Arts Festival. Chair Rick Smith and Select Board Member Eric Kelley highlighted the success of the Mobile Operations Command Center and noted that public safety and traffic routing executed smoothly throughout the multi-day event

After a brief executive session regarding potential real property acquisition and negotiations under Mass. General Law Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(6), the board returned to open session at 7:18 p.m. to act on several financial and administrative items.

The board formally accepted three sets of local donations benefiting town departments:

  • Veterans Services: A $100 contribution from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hanlon to assist local veterans with health, welfare, and emergency financial needs.

  • Council on Aging: Seven separate memorial donations totaling $850 given in memory of resident James Fox to support senior programs.

  • Marshfield Historical Commission: An anonymous $3,000 gift to support historic preservation work across town.
