Hull Select Board Approves Road Closures for America’s 250th Parade and Rejects High-Fly JPOD Skyrail Proposal

HULL - August 5, 2026 - The Hull Select Board greenlit key logistics and road closures for the town’s upcoming U.S. 250th Anniversary Parade and Field Day while politely turning down an immediate trial of an elevated skyrail transit system.

With America’s semiquincentennial celebrations underway, John Reilly, Chair of the Hull U.S. 250th Anniversary Committee, presented final logistical requests for the town’s premier celebration events scheduled for August 14 and 15. The Select Board unanimously approved temporary road closures along Nantasket Avenue and N Street to accommodate parade routes, food trucks, and field day activities centered around L Street Field.

The festivities begin Friday, August 14, with a sunset fireworks display over the ocean, accompanied by a beer garden hosted by Vitamin Sea Brewing, food trucks, and live music by the Assisted Living Band. Saturday’s main event will feature a massive parade starting at Revere Street, featuring four patriotic bands, marching groups, color guards, and local organization floats. Reilly highlighted that 275 abutters along the parade route will receive notification letters detailing temporary parking restrictions. During the presentation, Reilly also presented the board with a U.S. Flag that was flown over the USS Arizona Memorial on July 4, 2026, which will be entrusted to the War Memorial Commission.
