HANSON, MA - November 6- The Town of Hanson has reinstated blocking measures on its municipal water tower Wednesday after a resident resumed projecting a Trump related image onto the structure, just hours after the town had discontinued its previous deterrent efforts.

"Regrettably, the party involved in the image projection resumed projecting today and as a result we have had to yet again take measures to block the projected image," Town Administrator Lisa Green said in a statement.
The ongoing dispute, which began October 11, has escalated into a broader controversy. While the resident temporarily stopped the projections, they declined to provide written assurance they would permanently cease the activity, leading the Select Board to maintain blocking measures that included spotlights to overpower the projection.
The conflict has drawn significant attention to the town, including a recent rally supporting both the resident and former President Trump. Town officials have reported receiving threatening voicemails and what they described as "inappropriate and vulgar" messages directed at town employees, though they believe most such communications originate from outside the community.
Town officials maintain their position is solely about enforcing existing bylaws that prohibit political signage on government property, not about partisan politics. "The Town of Hanson does not endorse any political candidate, party or platform in any election," Green emphasized in her statement.
The situation has financial implications for Hanson taxpayers, with costs including legal fees, Highway Department overtime, and equipment expenses. While the town has the authority to impose $100 daily fines for violations, officials have indicated these penalties may not cover the full costs incurred by the town in addressing the situation.
