HALIFAX — Oct. 27, 2026 — The Halifax Select Board last Tuesday unanimously promoted Marline Amedee from associate to full member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and appointed Wayne Murray as an associate member. The board also joined state lawmakers in honoring Richard “Dick” Clark, who is retiring after decades with the water department, Housing Authority and fire department.
The Full Story
The board appointed Amedee to a full seat on the Zoning Board of Appeals with a term expiring June 30, 2028, acting on a letter from the ZBA chair dated Oct. 22 recommending her for the open position. Members noted she had served as an alternate for some time, and could hit the ground running.
The board then appointed Murray as an associate member with a term expiring June 30, 2027. Thomas Pratt said Murray was the only applicant to submit a talent bank application form and that anyone willing to give time to the town should be strongly considered. During the interview, the discussion turned to commercial development and the zoning bylaws. Pratt said a zoning bylaw review committee examining the zoning bylaw is being reinvigorated after stalling in December 2024, and described the seven or eight months left in the associate term as a good runway for someone who has not served before.
Earlier, the board read a letter of appreciation to Dick Clark for his service as a member of the Board of Water Commissioners and as water superintendent, as director of maintenance for the Housing Authority and as a call firefighter. A House citation signed by Reps. Kathleen LaNatra and Kenneth Sweezey and the speaker of the House honored Clark for decades of service, noting he retired as water commissioner.
Be it known that the Massachusetts Senate hereby extends its congratulations to Richard “Dick” Clark in recognition of your retirement after 40 years of dedicated service to the town of Halifax.
