EAST BRIDGEWATER - November 15 - Voters in East Bridgewater have approved the debt exclusion necessary to proceed with the Central Elementary School project. The measure passed by 91 votes, with 719 “yes” votes against 628 “no” votes.
The approval enables the district to finance its share of the project, which aims to provide a new, state-of-the-art, and safe school for children.
The Central Elementary School, located at 107 Central Street, currently serves students in grades Pre-K through 2. The facility includes an original building dating back to 1951, along with additions constructed in 1961 and 2006. The district submitted a Statement of Interest (SOI) to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) on March 29, 2022, confirming the project is proceeding under the Core Program.
The successful debt exclusion vote was critical, and was the second component following special town meeting authorization to borrow the money contingent on this vote earlier this week.
