Agricultural Fair, Recycling Plant Among Topics Discussed at Kingston Selectmen Meeting
KINGSTON, MA – June 11, 2024 – The Kingston Board of Selectmen held a brief meeting on Tuesday evening, addressing a variety of town matters.
The Agricultural Commission presented a proposal to use the Town House property for their annual fall fair, sparking discussion about the event's proximity to the new Veterans Memorial. The board requested a detailed plan from the commission outlining how they would accommodate the fair while respecting the memorial. The plan will be reviewed at the next meeting.
The board also discussed the potential development of a new waste transfer facility off Marion Drive. The proposal, presented at a previous meeting, highlighted potential economic and environmental benefits for the town. The board will continue to gather information and solicit community feedback on the project.
In other business, the board approved several appointments, including new staff for the library and harbormaster's office. They also accepted a donation of mulch for the Memorial Day parade and discussed upcoming road work on Route 3.
The meeting concluded with a brief discussion of the town's financial status and upcoming agenda items, including the appointment of a tax title custodian and the creation of a working group for a privately owned transfer station.
