The mass disclosure follows a comprehensive public records request by a resident seeking all executive session minutes from 1975 to 2026.
Town Counsel explained that under Massachusetts Open Meeting Law, executive session minutes must be reviewed periodically and released once the original purpose of confidentiality no longer applies. The newly approved batches—dating from 1990, 1992, 1994–1996, 2000–2001, and 2006–2011—will be posted on the municipal website alongside an explanatory memo detailing minor redactions for personal, medical, or employment privacy, with physical copies deposited at the public library. Select Board member Kenneth Coyle noted that the review is part of an ongoing effort to bring older records up to standard as administrations and laws have shifted over the years.
Beyond records transparency, the board addressed municipal waste management by establishing the full roster for the town’s new Trash Advisory Committee. Originally structured with fewer seats, the board approved an amendment brought by Coyle to expand the committee to 12 total members (11 voting seats), ensuring every resident who submitted an application was appointed alongside representatives from the Board of Health, Finance Committee, and Select Board.
