Abington-Rockland Joint Water Works Boil Water Order
The Abington Rockland Joint Water Works has issued a BOIL WATER ORDER effective immediately for customers in Abington, Rockland, Pembroke, Hanson, Hingham, and Whitman.
This only applies to Abington - Rockland Joint Water Works customers. In Hingham that’s some customers on Abington St near the Rockland line. In Whitman that’s Danecca Dr. In Hanson that’s some customers on Bowker Ave, Indian Head St, Liberty St, Partridge Way, Maquan St, Spring St, Tavern Way, West Washington St, and Whitman St. In Pembroke that’s Maquan St and several side streets.
Recent routine water testing detected E. coli and total coliform bacteria, which can cause illness. This is a serious matter, and we're taking urgent steps to protect public health.
❗ What You Need to Do:
• DO NOT drink tap water unless boiled for at least 1 full minute.
• Use boiled or bottled water for:
o Drinking
o Brushing teeth
o Making ice
o Cooking
o Washing dishes
• Discard all ice, beverages, formula, and uncooked food made with tap water on or before May 14, 2025.
We expect the issue to be resolved within 48–72 hours.
You will be notified as soon as the order is lifted.
