ABINGTON - May 12 - Abington's Select Board has given the green light to several important items during its brief 5 minute May 12 meeting.
The board unanimously approved a common victualler license for Joaquina Resende's new event space at 123 Center Ave. The venue, which shares a building with Spencer's Pizza, will host a variety of events including birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, and corporate gatherings.
Resende explained to the board, "I'm planning to rent it out for just about any occasion." She mentioned that while catering isn't provided, clients are welcome to bring their own food. She also has a preferred vendor for bartending services.
In other news, the board approved a change of manager for Sorelle’s restaurant, with Andrea Schnell, taking on the role. Town Manager Scott Lambiase confirmed all the necessary paperwork is in order.
The board also addressed a change in the affordable housing trust liaison. Suzanne Djusberg stepped down from the position, citing time constraints due to her growing business. Member Amanda Zompetti has volunteered to take her place.
Additionally, Ann Welch has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Abington to the Old Colony Elder Services.
Chair Roger Woods announced an upcoming Memorial Day ceremony, scheduled for May 26 at 9 a.m. at the Veterans Lot in the cemetery.
The next Select Board meeting is set for June 23 at 6 p.m.
